Tillandsias and Vertical Gardens

The new place that I'm moving into the weekend (with 1000 sq/ft of terrace, ah!) will soon be a hotbed of gardening activity. Here are some of the green goodies that are inspiring me right now.

I particularly love succulents and tillandsias, better know as air plants that don't require soil at all! I'll be making a glass chandelier incorporating them...keep an eye out!

Cat Nap

Featuring Cat Dawson.

GoKateShoot Presents: Charms City Company

So by now you've seen lots of the photos from when Cat and I trekked to Baltimore for Artscape. We had a blast stuffing our faces with food of questionable nutritional value, listening to live tunes, and checking out the art and jewelry vendors. We were having ish luck (though I brought a CRAZY jade beetle in a glass box!) until we came upon Charms City Company

Beautifully designed and handcrafted by the lovely Katie W. and Rachel B., the jewelry pays a whimsical homage to yesteryear. Cat and I flew into a tiny frenzy and proceeded to buy several of their pieces. Though I loved the binoculars pictured below, I ultimately settled on a sweet multi-chain with an equestrian fastener, and a necklace of the warm brown wood links. I have some pretty loud pieces already, so these are perfect to layer and add some depth.

Their stuff is for sale at Nana in Mt. Pleasant here in DC, or you can reach out via their website that I linked to above. Happy shopping, and enjoy the photos!

Here are a new stylish bits from Artscape in Baltimore last weekend!

Side note: I love terrariums and will be making a chandelier of them with the bobbles you see below. Love a little DIY action for the new place!

Riding B*tch

My favorite way to see the city of DC is from the back seat of a motorcycle, particularly at night. I enjoyed shooting this spontaneous series so much I'm going to develop this into a larger body of work over time.

Sometimes you need a little thrill.
(Properly helmeted of course. Good thing white goes with anything... particularly with my red stiletto heels and a nice breezy skirt!)

And of course, I tip my hat to my equally spontaneous and accommodating gentleman driver

GoKateShoot meets Butler + Claypool, and friends were made

Yesterday afternoon I had the pleasure of attending fashion collective Butler + Claypool's pop-up vintage shop at the Lamont Bishop Gallery. The vintage was prime, prices affordable, and the ladies lovely! I had a great time meeting the women behind what has been called one of the fashion projects to watch in DC.

Why not get a little inspired; these talented fashion gurus write for popular style blogs Fashion is Spinach and Project Beltway, the style section of the Washington Post, the Washintonian, and do gads of other exciting things. They go on adventures! Me too!

Needless to say, we got along swimmingly, and photo adventures filled with vintage fashions will be had in the fututre. I had lovely chats with several of them and was oh-so-glad to meet some other fashion-oriented ladies.

Enjoy the photos featuring Rachel Cothran, Holly Thomas, and Kristen Guitar of Butler + Claypool. Accompanying them are bloggers Kou Moore of PeppersoupAndrea Pippins of Fly Girls and her hat-wearing stylish friend.

The gentleman at the end (be still my beating heart, THOSE MIXED STRIPES!), is Scott, a fabulous tie designer of Derringer Friday (whoo baby, what a name!) .
