Algae is hot this year

Hot weather brings algae. This is a shoot I went on with Mike to complement my other water work that I've been doing recently. I really enjoyed the black streams the geese created...pretty cool.

Lots of wacky stuff coming up. This weekend is the calm before the storm; doing some rock climbing, hiking, going to a sold out show. Next weekend I drive to Chicago with two friends (17 hours) to go to Lollapalooza. I can't bring my wacky big camera but I will be toting my full manual point and shoot to bring you the wildness. The weekend after that my friend Firat from Istanbul is flying here to visit, and then I'm off to Washington DC and the Chesapeake Bay before moving back to New York for good. Hold on.

Until then, I'll be bringing in backlogged pictures from the coast of CT, the first trip to Chicago, and a variety of other events. Enjoy the geese.

The Potholes: Goldfish

Did you know there are goldfish that swim at the potholes too? These photos are my favorite from this photo shoot, and I made lovely prints of the first two. Very summer, yes?

The Potholes

So my photography class at Burlington City Arts just wrapped. Focused on photographing water, I brought the class to The Potholes in Bolton for our shoot. The Potholes is a series of three waterfalls (the location is sometimes called Triple Buckets also) that create deep swimming holes perfect for jumping into. There are wide basins for gentle swimmers, as well as higher banks to cliff-jump from for adventurous and invincible teenagers. Here is a small series from the trip that day; I will post a few more soon.

Multiple personalities

Multiple exposure shot of Greg, from a shoot we did at the lake a couple of weeks ago.

Lots of new stuff in the editing process. It's coming, I promise, sheesh.

Caroline Bright for BCA Photoshoot

After a post-production meeting on Monday night, I finished up the photos from the shoot I did with Miss Vermont 2010 for Burlington City Arts and the Firehouse Gallery, where I work. Caroline Bright was a lot of fun, and a good sport about all of the wacky things I asked her to do, including being dragged around a fountain by a large and lovable white pitbull. I'm happy to bring you some of the shots now...enjoy, and tell me what you think!

Musician and a bubble

Hurray! My lovely little computer has returned better than before, hopefully speedier. I'm all used to using my smartphone for everything now, so my computer is entirely for photos now. Streamlining the operation. Today is a beautiful day off, so I'm popping around Richmond doing small-town things like going to the bakery to buy fresh organic bread (Maple Wheat from On the Rise Bakery, oh yes!), and reintroducing myself to the library. I used to work here when I was younger, so it's refreshing to be back. As a result of my computer's trip to the doctor, I have almost 1000 photos to edit, so I'm holed up in the grand empty community room in the old library. The building used to be a church, but the main room was renovated a few years ago and now has light wood floors, fresh yellow paint and comfortable leather couches to complement the soaring ceilings. Great lights in here, so I'm pumped to work through the afternoon.

Here are some photos that were back-logged from before I sent my computer away. Many MANY more to come, including from several exciting projects and collaborations like a wedding and my photoshoot with the fantastic Caroline Bright, Miss Vermont 2010.

Stay tuned crew.

My dear friend Michael Healy, musician.

Communists Wear Red?

My brother Greg, in a joke shirt

My family in coordinated red shirts. Not so wonderful when one says COMMUNIST. Group wardrobe malfunction.

Snakeskin is fabulous

I enjoy snakes. The tough boys who are the source of this snake really dislike snakes. Who says women aren't tough. I would like to introduce you to Tyra, the snake.
