"...because that's where my soul lives."

Just holding on for dear life juggling 3 jobs and school, housemate hunting and party planning until working 60 hours/week this summer. Holding on for...what, again? Adventures will be abound, with photos to follow. As the famous slam poet Carlos Andre Gomez said, "...because that's where my soul lives."

The Weekend from the Twilight Zone - Spoon and moe.

This was a grand weekend for music. On Friday I had the amazing pleasure of going to shoot Spoon at Radio City Music Hall with my music journalist friend Nick Palumbo. You can find his crazy amazing blog here, so be sure to check it out. On Saturday my friend Kelsea and I went up to Killington to SNOE.DOWN, a moe festival at the ski resort, where I photographed all the crazy styled kids at the show. Characters, oh yeah. Love those hippies.

Curled in Seattle

Unfurl your curls, little girl.
Reach those edges out
To meet your sun man, friend.
Filter blues and greens, serene,
For spring soars in, again.

An afternoon adventure with Miss Catherine

Yesterday I had the pleasure of passing the afternoon with Catherine, a lovely fellow Couch Surfer with passions for Arabic, tea, and hitchhiking through the Middle East. It was fantastic to talk with someone who loves travel and adventure as much as I do. She showed me her favorite neighborhood spots in Capitol Hill, First Hill, and the International District. We stopped by a Buddhist temple and were promptly invited inside by a robe-clad monk who invited us, in broken English, to a service on Saturday that included a free meal. "You welcome, bring many friends," spoke of a stranger's kindness. There is nothing like multiple sets of open arms on a clear blue spring day.

Because it's trendy and progressive

I'm out visiting Seattle, which, upon arrival and investigation, I've found to be just as trendy and progressive as I've heard and anticipated. They have trees in their city, and being country-based for much of my life this is both exciting and necessary to my emotional health and well-being. They also love recycling even more than I do. Moving here. And the rain business has stayed away, except for a delightful drizzle late last night that brought forth the scents from the blooming magnolias, daffodils, cherry blossoms, and other spring explosive growths. Hurry for March in Seattle!

Taking pictures, talking to every stranger who will listen (and here, they all will!), writing, and drinking coffee has made me a real person again. Thank goodness. Being with Brendan and having a normal, non-long-distance relationship for a little while is lovely.

Here are some first shots...I have plenty more and will be updating again really soon, so check back!
