The MIT Technology Review commissioned me to shoot Michelle Lee, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office...the first woman to hold the position. Lee is unique in her approach, since she has strong experience in both law and technology. That pairing that will prove to be extremely importantly as the legal questions of emerging technologies come into question, and it was fascinating to talk to her about how patent law is evolving.
