I had the pleasure of photographing Abeer Al Otaiba, wife of the UAE ambassador and fashion entrepreneur, for Harper's Bazaar Arabia. This strong, wildly intelligent civil engineer had ambitions of her own when her family moved to the DC area for her husband's appointment, so she started SemSem, a luxury mother/daughter clothing line that donates all proceeds to charity. Shoots like this combining substance and style are among my favorites.
We spent two hours at her home near DC taking pictures for Harper's Bazaar Arabia's Best Dressed feature. We laughed, talked about our lives, and had a great time getting to know each other a little as I clicked away. Johny Saade and Christophe Saluzzo of Exclusive Artists Management for makeup and hair, respectively, made glamming her up on set easy and fun. Having a great team makes all the difference!
