MEN. For lots of reasons, I find men, and menswear, really inspiring. The attention to detail and ability to twist classics while adding an edge really gets me excited about style and itching for my camera. There's a lot of pressure to make women look 'beautiful' in photos, but men focus on looking interesting. I love that freedom, and strive to bring that simplicity more into my female portraits as well.
Since moving to Washington, D.C. almost 3 years ago I've spent a lot of time befriending fascinating Renaissance men with an eye for style. Their ability to work hard, passionately grow their talents and do it with a healthy dose of old school charm makes me glad to live in this city. Don't get me wrong - I love my lady friends and wouldn't subject my guys to half the stuff I talk about with them - but I have a special soft spot for men of style.
I'm excited to share a set of photos I took with filmmaker and creative entrepreneur Ian Fay of Saint Gorilla. Ian is a Tennessee boy with serious Southern charm and all the style that comes with it. Enjoy the gallery of photos below, and much thanks to Ian for sitting for me.
