I love being a part of the DC creative community, so when Kate Jenkins, editor of art and literary publication The Intentional, asked me to photograph her for the editor's page I was thrilled. She came to me with a concept; a nude portrait in a bathtub full of books with limbs akimbo. I loved it, and had some ideas to add to the mix as well.
I wanted to shoot her in a blue milky tub with pages of Jane Eyre floating in the water.
How do you make blue milky bathwater?
That's a great question. After testing lots of things out, we found that two cups of milk and half a bar of good old Dove soap did it. Tallyho! As soon as the bath was set we got to ripping - half the pages in an old copy of Jane Eyre ended up floating merrily in the tub. We were in business, and the shoot went speedy quick after that!
