This weekend is an experimental artist's dream. Even though I just returned from making experimental art in Turkey for two weeks, I'm super pumped about the art events going down in the city over the next several days.
Submerge, a four-day flash experimental art "happening" is jumping off tonight and running through Saturday. Created by No Kings Collective, Submerge will feature artists and performers in a warehouse in the Shaw Main Street Corridor. The space at 1005 7th St NW Washington, DC promises to be wild. You know that I'll be making appearances every night, particularly on Saturday to catch a subversive fashion performance by the fabulous Quincy Jones of yesterday's post. Come! It's in an insane warehouse, the DJs will be spinning like crazy, and the art will be top notch.
And let's face it, there's nothing cooler than being able to respond, "Oh, this experimental art thing in an abandoned warehouse..." when asked what you're doing this weekend.
You may even be as cool as Justin of ReadySetDC. Check that poppin' eyebrow in the second shot. Outlandish.
