Through my photographic practice focused on identity I constantly question how I can amplify the voices and stories of those who aren't as readily represented in mainstream culture. It is important that I not speak on behalf of anyone, but rather create space where they can speak for themselves. The opportunity arose to host a podcast at The LINE Hotel's Full Service Radio, so I proposed a podcast focused on sex, gender, orientation, and identity. Insert Here was born!
Insert Here is a sex podcast that shares non-heteronormative stories on sexuality and identity to combat toxic masculinity and prescribed gender norms. Since people tend to surround themselves with perspectives similar to their own, I wanted to use the podcast to bridge those gaps in experience. Guests bring a wide variety of experiences to life through their stories and show that there's really no such thing as "normal". They approach sexuality in fascinating ways, and talk about how it is informed by who they are and what they've been through. I invite regular people to share their best tools, tips, and tricks for communicating, thinking about, and of course *having* great sex.
The intended audience for the show is broad. We take time to explain each concept, vocab word, or term so everything is accessible to anyone. There are no stupid questions on Insert Here, and it's important to me that anyone feels able to listen and learn without feeling like something is over their head. Want to hear what it's like to date as a trans woman, leave your husband and join a polyamory community, or be interested in BDSM? Just beginning to explore and want to learn what those things are? Are a seasoned pro and love to hear different sexual voices celebrated? This show is for you.
