This past fall I had the pleasure of shooting and writing a feature for Edible DC on my good friend, chef Mathew Ramsey. He founded the viral culinary website PornBurger and the affiliated Bar R pop-up restaurant, with a punchy sense of humor and a soft spot for Bill Murray. His culinary career has since taken off and he's working on a cookbook for a major publisher. The piece was a blast to work on!
You can check my favorite photos from the shoot below, and read the whole article HERE.
Aside from being a crazy extrovert (I'll talk to pretty much anyone with a pulse), I minored in Writing in college and am always happy to have an opportunity to hole up and write. I worked on this piece while in the Hudson Valley of New York. In an office at the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-kill, where I mentored high school girls at a leadership workshop for two weeks, I wrote the piece over delicate summer salads from the Culinary Institute of America as the late summer light filtered through the trees. I lived (and wrote) in the Hudson Valley for four years, so it was an apropos place to return.
Back in DC after the draft was submitted, I shot the portraits in my northern light studio, made the burger in my kitchen, and staged a Bar R at Mathew's with some good friends as guests.
