Last month I had the pleasure of photographing DC rockers (and general Renaissance men/DC style icons/friends) US Royalty for their sold out Blue Sunshine show. It was one of those perfect summer nights: slow, warm, and full of creative friends laughing together. I photographed the Connersmith Academy 2013 gallery opening earlier in the evening (where I ran into everyone EVER and celebrated with several friends who were in the show), and then headed upstairs to the Industry Gallery space where the band was hard at work. They built an amazing custom stage and set with wooden pallets, brought in some of our friends to bartend, and then packed the place out. They were AMAZING (being a Zeppelin girl growing up, I LOVE their music), and the crowd danced wildly into the summer night air after the last number. Perfect.
I photographed little moments of pre-show chaos, solitude, and collaboration before turning my lens on the most electric moments of the crowd, backstage, and finally, of the show itself. These days I'm working to edit my photo sets way, way down in order to tell really efficient stories, but I kept this bunch big and am sharing 50 with you. Click through the slide show below and enjoy - I'm really pleased with how these came out. Many thanks to the guys for having me!
